Dennis Balk is a visual artist based in Richmond, Virginia. He is currently the creative designer for the fashion collective, Splinter Group. He has held teaching positions at Virginia Commonwealth University, Bangkok University International College, the BUI Media Lab, and New York Institute of Technology, Bahrain Campus. During the 90s and early 00s Balk was a designer at numerous advertising agencies in New York including McCann Erickson. Since the late 80s his digital prints, paintings, sculpture, theater and audience participation installations have addressed the conditions of narrative and the narrative aspects of historicizing the present. In New York Balk was represented by the seminal gallery, American Fine Arts.
