the end / SPRING BREAK closing reception and hurricane baby party

—Saturday, July 13—
the end / SPRING BREAK

closing reception and baby hurricane party

Join us this Saturday, 5–7 pm, as we say goodbye to the end / SPRING BREAK with a baby hurricane party with artist Tara Long. The fridge will be open. There will be cake, but will there be a mic?

the end / SPRING BREAK looks back at the work of the curatorial collective of the same name founded by artists/curators domingo castillo flores and Patricia Margarita Hernández. Between 2010 and 2015, Castillo and Hernández, at times, along with Kathryn Marks and Cristina Kiwi Farah, organized over 300 events, performances, and exhibitions throughout South Florida. Marked by a collective spirit influenced by experimental pedagogy and para-institutional practices, the collective created support networks and opportunities for artists to experiment within the hyper-capitalist development that has shaped the Miami skyline as we know it now. The exhibition at [NAME] includes a facsimile of a publication produced by the end / SPRING BREAK in 2015 wrapping the interior space along with ephemera, reproductions of digital material, and other documentation.

Tara Long is a multifaceted artist known for her work in performance, software development, and visual arts. Her creative journey is deeply rooted in the exploration of self-identity, a response to early orphanhood trauma, and her practice, informed by the conceptual legacies of artists like Joseph Beuys and Martha Rosler, serves as a dialogue with her past, making art a lifeline and a means of seeking personal harmony.
