Cynthia Cruz: Relic

Join us on Saturday, August 17, at 5 p.m. for the opening of Cynthia Cruz: Relic. This exhibition features work produced as part of Cruz’s Knight Foundation New Work Award.

Cynthia Cruz is a Miami-based artist specializing in painting and digital media. Relic features a multimedia installation that builds on research Cruz has been developing since 2020, where she has collaborated with Philosopher AI, a GPT-3 language model, and Starry AI, a prompt-based image generator, to create sculptures, videos, and digital collages.

She has presented solo exhibitions at [NAME] Publications, Miami, Thames-Side Studios Gallery, and ACME Project Space in London. Her work has also been featured at David Castillo Gallery, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, and the Bass Museum of Art, among others. In addition to her artistic practice, Cruz is also a curator and educator, having worked with ASC Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery in London. She has taught at New World School of the Arts and is the recipient of several awards, including the Knight Foundation New Work Award, the ACME/Goldsmiths MFA Studio Award, and she was shortlisted for the Griffin Art Prize. Cruz received her MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Cynthia Cruz: Relic was produced as part of the 2022 Knight Foundation New Work Award. Programs at [NAME] are made possible thanks to the generous support of the Teiger Foundation and The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation.
