Inevitable Objects: Workshop at ICA VCU
This workshop, organized by [NAME] and artist Dennis Balk, used Rafael Domenech’s exhibition The Medium is the Massage at ICA VCU, Richmond, as an invitation to local artists and students to explore the ways in which writing can be generative to production of artworks.
The premise is counterintuitive: Instead of producing objects and then writing about them, what if one shaped fictional, world-building narratives that in turn immanently suggest forms. One can think of the way that certain sci-fi stories not only present uncanny objects, but open a space of possibility.
